Topics include activity planning, use of climbing guidebooks, equipment care, use and inspection, climbing fitness, setting and cleaning protection, belaying, teaching basic climbing techniques, basic rappelling, basic rescues, climbing and weather hazards, assessing climbing areas, assessing climbers, and more. Lots of climbing!
This course includes group camping in both front country and backcountry in Joshua Tree National Park. Participants will assist in trip planning, preparation, and camping organization.
Additional: Individuals are responsible for roundtrip airfare to Palm Springs, CA. Ground transportation in California is provided.
