Day Thirty-One
May Day! I started riding on April Fools Day so I'm into my second month. It's been a good day.
Day Thirty Evening
Today I made it to Brenham, Texas, about 64 miles down range from Bastrop, before nearly expiring and calling it a day.
Day Twenty-Five
I wasn't planning or expecting a monster day, but it became one on its own.
Day Twenty-Four
I have made my camp for the night at the Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Day Nineteen
I woke before dawn and started packing at the tent area behind the Marathon Motel in Marathon, Texas. And there was another tent
Day Eighteen
An amazing day. Just under 59 miles, from Marfa to Marathon, TX, mostly downhill, mostly with a tailwind, but HOT.
Day Sixteen
I woke up at 3 am, thinking about West Texas. Distances are great, options few, I have little backup and scant information. A discomforting number of people, upon hearing where I am going, said "I'll pray for you".
Day Fifteen
Yesterday, April 14, was a monster day in terms of progress towards goal. 118.5 miles is 3.7% of the trip. Solid. Today, though, was not so successful.
Day Fourteen
This morning I rose before dawn and after a cup of coffee (Via) packed as quickly as possible (it's getting faster) and started my ride computer at 7:21 am.
Day Thirteen
The decision to take yesterday in Safford (and Tucson) and reset paid off mightily.
Day Twelve
Today was an exercise in being thorough, a classic "go slow to go fast" scenario.
